A team sports visual simulator
Simulfoot is a soccer release of a team sports simulator coming from projects developed by the SimGrpah team at the LSIS research laboratory. It comes from several years of researches in 3D graphics, imaging and cognitive ergonomics. The main feature of Simulfoot is its ability to deliver quickly a 3D model of a game scene from video acquisition. The only constraint is to capture players on a marked field to get landmarks.
Obviously, in its application part, Simulfoot allows changing the point of view (in a common sense as well as in its own sense) for viewers or players during or after the game. Real situations of the team are replicated with a high fidelity, using 3D synthesis images while allowing users to move a virtual camera inside the modeled scene. It is dedicated to bring a new life to sport situations. It can be used during match rehearsal, for training players, referees, or finally, to replay actions during or after a match. In this case, the spectator becomes an actor and can be involved in a dynamic situation at the same location of its favorite player. Definitely, we can find infinity of applications as soon as the 3D modeling of a video scene is built.
Robust and innovative algorithms
Simulfoot is build around a robust software architecture using image processing coming from the know-how of the research team. These algorithms were designed to deliver high quality results with high performance. They can address others contexts than this one.
